So I've been wanting to play out a psl based in the world of Avatar the Last Airbender. The basic idea for the psl is that the Fire Nation has taken over the world but rules it with a bit more leniency than what the show displayed. We are going to say that there are still some airbenders floating around but everyone is under the control of the Fire Nation. Local authorities of the different nations are basically puppets under the control of the Fire Lord. The current Avatar is a young fire bender who has recently begun his training and has just arrived in the Northern Water Tribe to learn waterbending. He is paired up with a skilled water bender to practice with. The two start off on the wrong foot but they are forced to work together when an attack is made on the Avatar's life and the two have to flee the Northern Water Tribe to find those responsible for wanting to kill the avatar.
The two would be opposites, the avatar being cocky while the water bender lacks the confidence to keeps him from reaching his full potential. Together they learn about each other, the other's cultures and discover a plot to change the world all together.
I would be willing to do this as either a psl, or maybe a small group psl. I would want to be the waterbender though. Both would be males. |

So, I needed to get this out before I start my NaNoWriMo. I also wonder why the heck I write so much next-gen fic when I have such trouble visualizing some of the cast as adults.

Summary: Ten years after the final battle, Aang worries about the future of the airbenders. A surprise shows him that things are never as simple as he thinks, and reminds him about where his powers come from.

Be it therefore resolved that, in order to celebrate the resolution of one of the best darn TV shows on television, and to promote the Avatar fandom on Insanejournal, I, Becca Stareyes, have commissioned the formation of the Insane Post-Series Avatar Fanfestival.
Seriously, I decided that we needed something to get people over here involved, and maybe bring some people over as dual-journal members at least, so I decided to put together something. As soon as the finale airs, I'll let people leave prompts for fanfiction and fanart. Then, two months from the start of Nickelodeon's Week O' Avatar, there will be posting of works. In between, there will be much writing and drawing and yay.
So, why don't you all head over to avafest for a look? Prompting opens on July 20 (or on the 19th as soon as the episode finishes -- I should be up and about then). |
