Although he'd been the one to suggest the kissing challenge, he realized at about the same time that he was watching John kiss Charlie more enthusiastically than he'd expected his dearest friend was capable of that he hadn't thought the dare all the way through. He puffed away nonchalantly at his cigar, but inwardly he was torn between feeling slightly aroused, slightly jealous, and slightly regretful that they hadn't been drunk on their eventful fishing expedition.
All such thoughts had disappeared, however, by the time Henry found John nestled under his arm. "Hello," he answered back, wrapping his own arm around John as his face broke into a grin. "You're quite drunk, aren't you?"
Henry couldn't recall whether Allaster had mentioned what his task was going to be during their earlier planning, but he assumed Allaster had it well enough in hand that Henry and John wouldn't be needed immediately.
