She nearly failed Auror training because of Stealth. She had nearly quit because of the same part of the training. But Nymphadora Tonks was nothing if not determined, so she stuck it out. It also helped that crazyass Mad-Eye Moody had been the one egging her on. He had been tough and, honestly, she thought she hated him half the time. But, in the end, she loved that grumpy old man like a kid loved their gruff uncle. And she had passed. Being part of the Order, and trailing people who would sooner hex her as look at her, Tonks learned to get better at stealthiness. At least while out on the field.
So, treating this as time out on the field, Tonks followed the younger (older)man as he took his habitual walk. At least for the first block or two. When there was enough distance between themselves and the apartment, so he couldn't head back and find distraction, the older (younger) woman caught up. Hands in the back pockets of her jeans, fingers absently fiddling with her wand that was back there too, Tonks stayed silent for a minute as they walked.
"I know you're not older right now..I don't think we even meet properly for another year, in your timeline. I was nearly seven." She spoke up quietly, smiling a bit, "But I liked you when I was little. And we're friends, when you're older." Then the girl with the light pink hair looked over to the man that she considered a friend. "I think that's why it hurts that you're avoiding me like the plague here." She knew an apology was coming, so held out her hand in gesture that she wanted to finish. "I don't want an apology, Remus Lupin. I just wanna understand."
