Normal mode of operations, then, Ianto thought, looking over at Jack with a bland expression on his face. "He's the Torchwood type," Ianto finally said. "I'm retired. I'm just a concerned citizen trying to figure out what's gone and cocked-up my town so badly that the dead are turning up alive and people can't leave the town borders. No Torchwood here. There's Torchwood in Cardiff and some bloke in Glasgow who's really completely barmy by now. That's it."
So many species, so little time. To go out and discover new life forms and shag them silly. They've made all the jokes about Jack, back in Cardiff. Ianto flicked at his scanner, more to have something to do with his fingers than anything. "He is a Captain, actually. He fought in both world wars. In the first, he made Lieutenant and in the second, he was a Captain in the Royal Air Force." Why he felt the need to defend Jack, Ianto didn't know, but he didn't like the fact that Jack was so transparent in his adoration of this man and how this man didn't seem to return the sentiment. Maybe he just didn't understand.
Still, at the wine and dine and dance comment, he looked up at the Doctor and smirked, just a bit. "Oh, no. I made him buy me a drink first."
