Jack drew his lips into a thin line and said nothing about having his attentions being held anywhere. Even if it was true, Jack wasn't quite comfortable when it came to admitting such things. He liked being the 51st century man, flirting with everything and anything, and that was the way he preferred things. He'd just ignore the fact that he'd spent the past several weeks patching things up with Ianto. Grinning, Jack held onto the Doctor as long as possible before he started walking again. "Your Jack never changes," he said, chuckling. "You're not too busy, especially if you're, as we've been figuring out, stuck here with the rest of us. Don't worry, I'll keep you from being too bored."
Rolling his eyes skyward, Jack huffed. "Yes, Doctor, because we're in Canada, apparently the direction of forward has changed since the last time I heard it. Canadians are so backwards that forward is really that," he gestured to his left, "way." As frustrating as this incarnation could be, this was the one he had first met all those years ago. "Places to go." Jack snorted. "At least you're not leaving me behind this time, are you?" All right, so maybe he was quite a bit bitter.
He paused long enough to get the second set of readings before taking off at an easy run to catch up with the Doctor. That was part of the problem: the man was utterly irresistible and that was saying something coming from Jack Harkness. "It's telling me there's something strange coming from this strange 'forward' direction you keep mentioning. What I don't get is the fact that I'm getting the same signal from the TARDIS. How can there be two of the same type of signal?"
Jack did in deed jog to reach the Doctor's side once more, slipping his arm into the Doctor's as naturally as if they always had walked that way. Or, maybe, Jack was just being a bit on the cheeky side. Either was possible. "So," Jack said, "who are you expecting to meet?" Jack asked. "What do you know that you're not filling me in on." He poked the Doctor's upper arm. "The more I know, the better I can assist." He paused hearing those wonderful Welsh vowels from behind. "Speaking of people to see..." He tugged on the Doctor's arm, making him stop. "We have company. And you'll never guess who, either."
Speaking of the man who had stolen Jack's affections.
