The Doctor just smiled back at Jack as he gripped onto his should, easy as can be. This reincarnation had never had trouble smiling, but Ten had been another story.. something Nine knew nothing about, unfortunately. Something in this place was keeping him from knowing things he should.. or shouldn't. "An acquaintance? Really? Male, female, or inanimate?" Oh, he couldn't help that little jab at your sexuality, Jack. So sorry. But it had all been in good fun, as everything the Doctor did was.
"I hear singing." His simple answer to a very complex question.. rather, the shortened answer to a very complex one. What did he hear? That song. That son was everything. He heard his world. His past. His future. He heard singing. He heard another Time Lord. He heard what was impossible. But if the Daleks could have more.. then maybe.
No. All of the Time Lords were dead. He was the last one of his kind, the lonely God. There was nothing more. No one more. Only him.
"Is there a fancy night club around here?" They both knew that wasn't what he'd meant when he'd said singing, though. He'd heard something else, something in his mind. Something the others wouldn't be able to hear even on their best days.
