The Doctor turned when he heard the footsteps and his eyes landed firmly onto Jack. Jack? But he'd left him behind, just moments ago, and.. Well, he could have been anywhere in time, really. He simply didn't know where. Clearly, it was sometime after he'd met Jack. Or.. perhaps not. All the same, he was flashing a smile right back in the dreamboat's direction and lifting both eyebrows.
"You're here, too? That's fantastic! But, would you mind telling me where 'here' is? I'm guessing.. somewhere around the year two thousand? Earth. But the location is just right out of my reach." As he said that, he was looking around himself, back at the TARDIS, then around the park once again. Mostly to keep himself from asking Jack the questions that he really wanted to ask. If he waited long enough, they'd come to him. And-- The Doctor came to a sudden halt and he drew in a slow breath.
Singing. He knew that voice. He'd recognize it anywhere.. But it couldn't be. There were no more Time Lords. None like him. No one else. They were all dead and turned to dust, left long ago never to return but.. that singing could only mean one thing.
His attention snapped back to Jack and the smile reappeared instantly. "You look fantastic for a dead man. Bit of make-up, is it? And you've put on a little weight. Ah. Must be relaxing, then. Right. So where are we? The TARDIS and I seem to be having a bit of a disagreement." How long had Jack been stuck out there in space? Left for dead, but never able to die? Could have been years. Decades. Centuries.
