It took Elphaba a moment to respond, as she practically stared at the younger woman. Was Tonks joking around, or was she just...thick? She was about to make a biting remark, but then something just...snapped. "By the time I left Oz," she said bitterly, "I'd gone through almost thirty years of hatred and mistrust. I was hunted as a terrorist for seven years. My entire family was dead, what love life I had imploded, and I confined the only friend I ever had to a life of lies on her behalf." Elphaba was panting by the time she'd finished, looming over the poor girl. Was she getting a bit riled up? Was the agitator, the old damn-the-consequences side of her showing again? Whatever it was, it was dammed loud.
