"No no no no, shhhh," he said to the soft whimpers. She was looking through his head, he knew, through his mind and emotions. It was just what River did. For once, though, Ianto didn't want her to. He went through mental exercises taught in Torchwood One, meant to close off a mind to outside sources. If he was successful, he had no idea, but the desire to keep the nothing from River was intense.
"Don't look," he crooned as he tried to shutter his mind. "Don't look. It's not important, don't look." Ianto rocked the both of them, blue eyes wide open, afraid for the moment to even blink.
