The stern command was exactly what he'd needed and he gasped for breath a few more times, eyes opening to stare up at Harry again. "I didn't mean to." Insisted in a rush of breath, then closed his eyes tightly again. "I didn't." That time it was more calmly said, but he was still breathing quicker. However, after a few moments of silence, he was able to open his eyes again, and though they were still wet, he seemed much calmer and was able to stare up at Harry. The other wizard had his complete attention and Jalil, if he was even still in the room, wouldn't even be noticed.
"I'm sorry." It was another apology, to anyone who'd listen. He couldn't believe he'd done that. He could still remember every single detail, the way the bones cracked between his jaws, the screaming, the wet sounds of teeth slicing through muscle.
