Oddly enough, the first thing that reached Rose's mind was that she understood why Ianto wanted to go stargazing. There was something beautiful and powerful about the stars, about everything that could be out there and might be, as if nothing was impossible because it was so far away - and if it was that far away then who could disprove anything? The possibilities were endless, and she loved every one of them.
When Jack held her tighter, Rose turned her head slightly to brush away the tears that fell down his face with the tips of her fingers. The touch was gentle, not scolding but comforting, the silent promise that she was there and would be, without question or failure.
"It wasn't your fault, Jack. You know that. I know that you have to." Jack would have told her the same thing, in fact he had gone as far as to tell her that very thing so many times before. She had to make sure he knew the rules did apply to him, even if he didn't think so.
