The poor pair of men. They were never going to have a truly relaxing night. Because, about two thousand feet to the West of them, in a storm bunker beneath the airfield Airplane Hangar, was a very large wolf. A very large wolf who was chained to the concrete floor and locked in by two sets of metal doors, complete with padlocks.. there was a silencing spell and several wards around the storm shelter, but sunrise was only ten minutes away and the beast had laid down for a rest before the transformation back.. and Jalil, who had been listening from outside, had come in, past the first set of large metal doors. He'd very carefully opened the second set and peeked inside, to find the chained beast laying listlessly, unmovingly, on the floor.
So he'd opened the door wider and stepped inside.
And within two seconds, the wolf had jerked to its feet, torn free both back feet, then both front feet, and the chain around its neck, so that four shackles remained, all trailing a few pieces of chain in their wake. Jalil hadn't had a chance to react and the wolf had howled and shoved past him, desperate to get outside, and had been up the steps and outside before the dark-skinned boy could even blink.
And right now, the large wolf (who looked no different from a normal wolf, except for the fact that he was about the size of a Great Dane and weighed a hundred and seventy pounds) was tearing away from the hangar.. across the road, causing a car to swerve to miss, crashing into a tree instead. And that would be what drew the attention of the pair. It was lucky, really, because they'd get to see the beast as it came racing towards them, fangs bared and golden eyes glowing in early morning dark.
