No matter how many times she saw the freaks in town, Red couldn't fully get used to it. Aliens were fairytales in her world -- five-hundred years and still no contact. Yet somehow, Red was simply expected to believe that there were parallel universes and worlds with aliens and demons as plentiful as humans. It made her insides turn over -- what was next? Sit in a circle and sing Kumbaya until the cows came home?
She rearranged her arms beneath her chest and crossed one long leg over the other as she watched the green woman enter with much skepticism. Green. (Green and red totally clash, she thought.)
Blink when addressed. "What? No, I was actually more distracted by the green all over your face." Spoken with a true smile as Red lifted a finger and gave it a little twirl in a circle around her own face. Emphasizing. There was danger to being seen as brash, and she pondered if it was worth the effort to put up a front with her neighbors. The landlady seemed to think Red nice enough. 'Girl always pays her rent on time.'
