If her greeting wasn't sincere, she did quite a good job of masking it. He wasn't sure if it ran in the blood or if it was just something people in their position, straddling two worlds and trying to keep them separate, seemed to be adept at doing.
"It was fine," he responded with a tight-lipped smile, which didn't give away much information at all but there was nothing special about the dinner that was like any other worth mentioning.
"I hope he's spending more time with you, now that you're here." A soft spot - one of many beneath the hardened exterior.
"If you're looking for him he's in a meeting, but it should be over by noon."
