Who: Nell and Bea What: Sister-time with a touch of mystery Where: Bea's apartment When: Monday evening Rating: PG-13? Status: In it
Nell was excited! No, not exactly: Nell was nervously excited... To know that after all these years, after so much distance had been between her and her only sister, her only sibling, they had come to live in the same exact apartment building completely by random--it was enough to really cement the tattooist's belief that the Universe had order, and every person and every part had it's connection. Like threads in a tapestry--her and Bea had been tightened and brought back together.
She stood in the elevator heading to her sister's (and her brother in law's) floor, rummaging idly through the open box she balanced on her hip. Pictures that brought out bittersweet memories and a thoughtful smile on Nell's face as she went through them, over and over again. A scrap of t-shirt that used to fit her, held to her nose. It smelled like packing tape and cardboard, but also had a hint of something indescribably familiar, that twisted her stomach in a potent way.
Bea had given her another connection to their childhood--parts of it that were happy and cherished. It was a reminder she needed, and loved, as she crossed the elevator doors and headed down the hall, eventually finding herself at the right door.
Nell knocked after a cleansing breath, but she didn't realize she'd been holding it until it broke free in a small laugh, hearing her beckon answered by the yips of puppies. An oddly powerful sting and heat held behind her eyes.
