After the debacle in the gym, Alex couldn't stay in the apartment anymore, much less even the building. The entire experience was too eerie, too weird to just let go, and it was staying with him as much as the driving buzz that was echoing through his entire body. Anger had overtaken fear, though, and had driven him to getting behind the wheel of one of his father's array of cars.
He was driving aimlessly, stopping once to get coffee and blow a line off a CD case belonging to some '70's soft rock band that his father loved. When the euphoria finally settled in over the discomfort Alex had been feeling, he'd taken to one of the back roads, gunning the powerful sports car around bends, sliding on icy patches then taking off like a shot, tires screeching when traction was made again.
The flashing red-blue-white-red-blue-white and shrill siren were an unwelcome sensory barrage, and Alex only grudgingly pulled over due to the fact that he had no real idea where the fuck he was, nor how to evade the cops had he decided not to stop. Unfortunately for him, the cop recognized his face, and the fact that Alex was high, and decided to make an example out of him.
The phone call to his father had been brief. It was nothing new; Alex had called his father from many police stations over the years. Alex also knew he wouldn't see hide nor hair of George Montgomery. The senator would send some lackey who would smooth things over with the PD and smuggle Alex out the back, away from the gathering swarm of reporters that would have heard the Montgomery name go out over the police scanners. He sat in lock-up, eyes closed, legs twitching vigorously as he waited for said lackey to arrive.
When the door to the cell swung open and he heard his name, Alex cracked one eye, waiting to see if it would be Schwartz, or Goldman. Instead, when he saw Beau, he let out a bitter laugh. "Thought you were gone."
