"If it makes you feel any better I woke up on the couch. Sometimes, I wake up on my work bench. And then when I'm feeling really spicy? I don't even sleep." Ok Steve, he got it. You had to go through the same trauma. It's been jotted down.
It was hard for Tony to be sympathetic with Steve's attitude, so he did his best to be the bigger man. Steve did it all the time, Tony could try these every few instances, as much as it hurt. "See, if I wasn't Agnostic I'd believe that. But seeing as I'm not then I'm going to say that's a cop-out and you know it." Blaming a God, whether it be fictional or not, wasn't going to make things better.
Moving from the squat to actually sit down across from the Captain, the metal of the suit clanked again, this time against the surface of the building. Tony became much more serious and less blase. "Just like you know I didn't get this suit, I built it, like a lot of the other things I have. I don't remember building it but obviously I did. I remember, like you, everything from the 60's. Not that I'm an expert on the subject but I also believe the aliens didn't do this. They had nothing to gain from giving us those..dreams, much less accelerating our time. If anything, we are better suited to fight them now."
Taking a breath, Stark sighed, becoming less serious and guarded. He let his eyes fall to the concrete of the building. "And Thor isn't handling himself fine. He's confused and apprehensive, just like everyone else...just like me."
