Later in Steve's Perfect life.
Steve Rogers stood before the American Congress, looking to the others with confidence. He walked to the microphone and began his part of the debate for the day.
"Ladies and Gentlemen. I come to you today to talk about our Super Hero Problem. These are your words, no mine. As a former advanced human myself, I can tell you these people are only trying to do what is right." He didn't mention he still had some of the power sets from the super soldier serum. He also neglected to mention he was including mutants in this classification.
"They are out there fighting for the common man. Their only reward is a sense of doing what is required. All of us have been touched by the superhuman community in some way. We ourselves have been saved by them, or know someone who has. Or we hear their stories of courage on the news, and it warms our heart. Today we are discussing the reasons for making them register. Superhuman and Mutant. We want them to register? They aren't the problem, folks. The ones wanting to kill are. I hope you will think about that when the time comes for a vote. Thank you for your attention."
He gave a brief nod, returning to his chair. He wasn't sure how his words were received. He just knew he said what he felt. He was long out of the hero game, as was Peggy. They did their time in the war, and now he fought from behind a desk. It seemed to be better that way.
