Scott laughed at the question about the AF fitness test. "It's way too complicated. But I managed to get a copy of it, all 355 loose leaf pages. I've got it in a box, and can give it to you, now that I worked out how to use it. But the Canadian Air Force is working on one that is bound to be better."
He regarded her other question for a minute. He followed her gesture, not thinking about those curves, and then thinking way too much about them. "Are you--?" Then he caught the train of the conversation again. "Um, I think you are. Motivated. I recall you really want to go to Paradise. And this is the free ride. So, I've wondered."
He also wondered about that ring. A man's ring. Has she lost somebody? Why were they all so hesitant about sharing basic information? Scott wondered, not for the first time, if that was something wrong with him. The orphan, unwanted, really mostly a paycheck for the fosters who finally took him in. This was more a home to him than any place he could recall, since his memories were so mixed up.
