Chloe almost ran off the path at the sudden appearance of the wolf, and it took a moment of fancy footwork to regain her ground. She could feel her pulse beating high in her throat. A quick glance told her the animal was no ordinary wolf, or she would've been sprinting ahead by that point. Not that sprinting could do much against a wolf.
Warren's reaction reassured her somewhat that there was no danger, but Chloe was still glad that he was between her and the creature. It was welcome to eat him first as far as she was concerned. "What or who is that?" she managed to get out between inhales. She slowed, but didn't stop yet, unsure of what reaction would keep her safest. Dammit, this was going to mess up her time even more--assuming she didn't get eaten first anyway.
