He huffed a laugh, looking back to the lawyers. One would show why Stark was a back stabbing betrayer of the country. Another would show how his inventions saved lives. One showed how Steve was more than happy to move with the mutants, the other showed WWII footage of Cap saving lives. It was back and forth for the longest time. Steve lost track of exactly how long, before the prosecution was allowed final statements.
"Your Honor. These men made a choice. They moved against the American public, in order to protect people with our best interest being a non-factor. Mutants are going to overpopulate humans, and there is nothing we can do about it. Look at Magneto. He could have leveled New York if not stopped. Our missiles do nothing to him. These two men assisted him. Captain Rogers directly protected him from our soldiers. Tony Stark stopped our men from claiming land that was known friends to a terrorist. There is nothing more to day, other than they knew what they were doing. They have been put in place to protect us, and have chosed their side. Thank you." He said, the whole time looking like he wanted the men dead. When he finished, he slowly walked to his seat and took it.
As the defense rose, he sighed heavily. "What is a hero, your honor? Captain Rogers is the living and breathing factor of our people. His opinion shifts as the people's opinion shift. If the people are annoyed, he fights the problem. If they are patriotic and true, so is he. His attitude reflects that of the common man. As for Mr. Stark, he came from a brilliant family. He uses the company he owns to help move us forward. Without Stark's technological advances, where would we be. It would be silly for him to try and harm the country he provides for. So I ask, your honor, look at the men and their character. If they moved against our military, there must have been something wrong with the system. Thank you for your time." As their lawyer took a seat, the Judge announced.
"There will be a brief recess as I make my decision. Court will resume in 30 minutes."
With this, Steve leaned once again to Tony. "Are we cooked?"
