Some of the annoyance shed away with Steve's little sentence, and it made Tony reach around to pat his shoulder in return. Damn him for being so good. "You're not the only one, buddy. I wouldn't worry too much. I've been in much worse situations." And really? First Impressions always dissolved into something much different. They were always wrong, in Tony's perspective.
The only thing that kept Tony's face from making a new home into his palm was the fact that he would undoubtedly fall asleep and get jailed for disrespect, or some bullshit like that. Ridiculous didn't even cut it.
Leaning down a bit so he could speak with Steve without drawing all that much attention or being disruptive, Tony shrugged nonchalantly. "Of course they are. Unfortunately for them, they only have accusations to accompany their photographs. Photographic evidence is only good for certain things. They can't prove you were being neglectful with a photograph anymore than they can prove my brain's been tampered with."
It would be an entirely different story had they gotten a photograph of Steve hurting an American soldier, but they didn't. "Right now? They're just throwing as much conspiracy as they can because they know we kicked their pants with questioning."
