"Uh." Josh knelt as well, feeling rather like they all were having a some sort of pow-wow in the hallway. "Well, giving him mammal skin instead of new scales over that burn probably wouldn't go over too well, I suppose..."
And how exactly was he supposed to go about making new scales? Jonah was staring at him now through slitted pupils, and Josh offered an awkward smile as he reached over to touch the burned arm Hank was holding. Might as well just give it a try, he thought.
Though the change was hardly noticeable in the bright hospital lighting, his hands began to glow softly as he examined the injury through the lens of his powers. The scales had a soft flexibility to them that he hadn't expected, Josh realized, though the burn had shriveled and blistered them beyond easy recognition. An idea struck him as he traced a finger over the healthy scales further down the kid's arm, and Josh narrowed in to analyze the unharmed skin. Then, holding that knowledge in his mind, he did his best to draw a copy of that particular sort of health upward through the burn.
