Time suddenly passed faster... as fast as it had the night she tried to stop her step father from harming her little sister. The night her mother died and then... that same day (it was the same day wasn’t it?)... when the gun went off, warm blood soaked her hands and she held her little sister’s dying body in her shaking arms, everything seemed to slow down again as if time had stopped. That was when she knew nothing would be the same ever again. Time was funny that way. It seemed to play tricks on the mind. When mother died, she knew things would be different, especially in the way her step-father was acting and all the people who gathered had talked about the business of the estate, bank accounts and who was to care for the girls as if they weren’t even there- none of that mattered to her... she just wanted what she knew could never be... for things to be as they were...

Leaning her head down on her knees and hugging her legs close to her Baby braced herself for what was about to come and within moments the ground shook violently at the force of a great explosion. Then another. And another. Dust settled from cinder block walls and from beyond the brickwork their could be heard the sound of fireworks. An uproarious cheer grew from the innards of Arkham and all at once, with the synchronized sound of sliding metal, the doors unlocked...
