Molly had been in Area 53 ever since she’d been nipped from Madison Valley. There were people there that she missed. Some of them had shown up here, but one in particular had left a hole in her heart. The first few months had been hard. She’d been angry, caused some damage and injury to a few places and people. It had been unfair for her to have found someone who helped her with her nightmares and piecing her head back together…someone who loved her…only to be yanked away from him. After a while she’d become resigned. Some might have called her depressed. She didn’t really care what the diagnosis was. She just wanted to be left alone…not that House would allow that for long. Jerk.
Halloween had at least broken up the monotony of the place. There was nothing more mind-numbing that stocking shelves! Not even studying Harry’s dusty old books. She’d gladly go back to that if it meant being back in Chicago where she could do something. Make a difference. This…sucked. She’d helped with the kids part of the festivities then hung around to have a couple of drinks before going home…to an empty house and just as empty bed. Sigh.
The next morning changed everything! Molly had checked the posts and there it was. Adamus was here! Molly’s heart had stopped when she saw it then just about burst out of her chest when it was obvious that he remembered her. She hadn’t been a practicing Catholic in a very long time (Mass with her folks in Madison Valley notwithstanding), but she tossed up a quick prayer of thanks after arranging to meet him where he was then ran from the house.
She didn’t care that she was still in pajama shorts and a tank top. She didn’t care that she was running full tilt in fuzzy slippers. None of that was in her head, and even less when she rounded the corner and saw him standing there. Chest heaving from sprinting she stared for a moment in astonishment, let out with a small huff that turned into a smile then ran forward to all but tackle Adamus in a hug.
