Mornings were easier for Maria than nights were. During the evenings and the night time, it was far harder to not think about how alone she was here. Back on the road, her life was filled with the others. Even before they had left Roswell, most of her days were spent with Liz and her nights with Michael. There were also the nights that all of the would get together and hang out at the Crashdown. While this place was nice and there was no one around looking to kill people for being different, it still was hard for her to function at full capacity because she didn’t really know anyone here beyond their names. She hadn’t even spoken with her roommate very much and she knew that she needed to change that soon. They lived together so they should get to know each other.
Right now, she was out for a walk and as she walked through the park, she heard the unmistakable sounds of flute music. It was a peaceful song, so she changed her direction, following the music until she came to where there was an older man sitting on a bench. He was the one that was playing the flute and it brought a smile to Maria’s face. Back home she had several meditation CDs and almost all of them had some kind of flute music in the songs.
She waited until it seemed like he was finished with the song he was playing and then smiled at him, feeling a little more peaceful.
