“Thanks. Having them here definitely helped me adjust,” Caroline replied as she broke off more cookie for Hope to munch on. A quiet little ‘thank you’ was murmured as Hope looked curiously over at Claire again before going back to coloring. She still wondered how everyone she'd been forced to leave behind was doing. Hopefully her family had stopped being idiots with one another and made amends and hopefully there hadn't been any killing because of her and Hope's disappearance.
“They’ve done a pretty good job of making sure we’ve got practically all we need. After fifty years I guess its to be expected. Plus you’ve got generations that have been like born here. It’s just hard to think about actually being here for fifty years.” Though considering leaving the place didn’t exactly mean that Charlotte or Hope would be going with her, not really knowing what would happen to either girl, would have Caroline choosing to stick around no matter what. There had been enough people in Hope’s life that had vanished from it all too suddenly, she wouldn’t do that to her too, not if she could help it.
“So what do you think of it all?” she asked. Caroline knew how unsettling it could be to be in a place and be unable to leave. At least in Lawrence she’d been able to leave the city, to travel the world like she’d always wanted. There wasn’t any chance of that happening here.
