A break was needed, mostly to complete the Transfiguration essay than anything else. The outing had its own benefits, however, in the form of Rodrigo Santoro (he of the Brazilian dueling team), and the one mentioned most by Morag. Mandy toyed with her quill, debating summoning Morag down here. It would certainly be more entertaining than the essay. Perhaps when she was closer to being done. Smiling slightly to herself, she looked about the open study area, watching who was watching the school's guests.
Demelza had set out from the Gryffindor common rooms in a rather cheery mood, despite the History essay, which sat only half-done on the table beside her bed, nothing added to it. She had intended to work on it, honestly, but she'd gotten distracted by the late owl arriving from her mum. To her delight the parcel had contained a new pink and white striped sundress she'd back ordered over Christmas. Clothes this cute had to be shown off immediately so she'd changed, did her hair and skipped off to find the visiting students, primarily the delicious blonde from France, Donatien. She walked into the room full of students and couldn't keep from smiling as heads turned. Oh the joys of being adorable were all she could think, but playing coy she skirted the large group, scooping out a quieter table.
Mandy only rolled her eyes slightly as Demelza entered. Waving her wand at the bell in front of her, she concentrated, watching with satisfaction as it turned into a pear -- a brass one. Frowning, she made a note. She was sure she'd spoken the incantation correctly in her head, but could she be wrong? Her fingers flew through the pages of her text, only to be interrupted by a bout of laughter from the table holding the Brazilians and a few of their adoring fans. At least it wasn't that arse from Durmstrang making the noise this time.
Demelza couldn't help but smile at the commotion, finding the little fan girls to be amusing and pathetic at the same time. It was one thing to admire a guy, it was another thing to completely throw yourself at him in an obvious way in a public setting. Despite appearances, Demelza had her own notions about class. Instead of walking up and cooing, she chose to sit at an almost empty table in direct eye line of the French hottie, right across the table from Mandy. She flashed a smile at the brunette, eyes leaving Donatien for only a moment for flicking back in his direction. The boy was looking at her, a good sign. She nodded before purposely sending him what she hoped was a charming grin before turning her attention to the Ravenclaw, though she honestly couldn't remember her name at the moment. "Hey, whatcha working on?"
Mandy blinked, wondering if... oh, what was her name. Gryffindor, yes. The one with the pink hair. No matter. "Homework." Turning, she saw Donatien, who gave her a slight grin and then another to Demelza. "It's generally what one does in here. What are you working on?"
Demelza had originally had her entire attention focused on Mandy that had been her intentions when she spoke. That and to look busy so that Donatien would have to approach her if he wanted to learn more. She didn't want to appear eager by joining his table but at the same time, she didn't want to look like a loser for sitting all alone. But as the girl began speaking, Demelza's eyes drifted to peer out the corners at him. It was a curse, but that boy just had the most adorable face and that blonde hair, it was heavenly. She nodded at Mandy, silent for a full moment as her brain focused and the question sank in. That's when Demelza remembered the essay sitting in her room, what a perfect prop that would of been. Then again, she hadn't expected to end up in the library and she would have looked ridiculous with it in any other setting. She frowned, biting her lip as she puzzled over it. "Hmmm...I suppose I do look a bit obvious sitting in the library empty handed." She laughed, quietly.
Mandy raised an eyebrow, silently agreeing with her. "I'm afraid so." Once again, a glance behind and a cheeky grin. "You could always talk to him. I mean, you're not being obvious all, in your interest." Her words, pitched just loud enough that both Demelza and Donatien could hear.
Demelza's jaw clenched a bit as the boy peered curiously in their direction, having obviously caught Mandy's comment. Her eyes flashed quickly from him, targeting Mandy's, though they held no anger, only amusement and embarrassment. "Shhhh, you're not helping. You could always pretend I was suppose to meet you here to work together. Besides, you can't tell me you don't find any of our 'visitors' attractive!" Demelza's voice, was kept low so others couldn't hear it, though it was obvious Donatien was trying to as he leaned forward in his chair. It was adorable, how guys were drawn to those girls who showed the least interest really.
"Hm? Oh, yes, I, too find the blond one to be very good looking." She spoke a bit more loudly. She bit her lower lip, hearing his chair scrape slightly. "Honestly. Talk to him. He's interested, I can hear him." She rolled her eyes good-naturedly, turning around once again. "Aren't you?"
"Have you no tact! Geez, he's not going to come over here if he thinks I'm too interested." Her voice was still low as she leaned on her elbow atop the table, trying to appear bored. She hadn't, however, been able to keep the smile from spreading across her face. She had a good view of both Mandy and Donatien from her position, without the glances his direction being obvious. Anyone could tell Demelza had done this before. "I know he's interested, but it's just better to make them approach you. Take the Brazilian over there that the girls are all drooling over. He's bored out of his mind, the attention is growing weary for him. You can tell, he keeps looking around the library like he's plotting his escape."
"Right." She wrinkled her nose and reversed the spell she'd put on the bell, and tried again, and with the same result. Demelza forgotten for the moment, she struggled with the problem presented to her. A memory poked her, and she turned again, this time faced with Donatien's blue eyes. "Well. Hello. You were in Transfiguration, yes?" At his hesitant nod, she smiled. "Help me with this?" Minutes later, the problem cleared up, and he returned to his former seat.
"Well, I hope I didn't ruin anything for you," she spoke now to Demelza, having remembered and picked up the conversation from before.
Demelza sat there as Mandy worked at the project before her. Being a year younger, she hadn't reached that level of work and it intrigued her to watch the older girl work. Not that it was that far above her current work, her class was working on the opposite goal. Turning an organic creature, in this case a rat, into an inanimate object, a wine goblet. Surely they had a similar working strategy. Though, she was completely startled when Mandy looked up and called over to Donatien. That would have been a perfect excuse, asking for help with something school related and then turning it into a flirt session. Of course, it would never work now cause he'd see right through it. Curses on her, for being so slow. No matter, at least it'd given her a chance to see him up close, and to flash him an absolutely adorable smile. "No matter, gave me a momentary close look. He's still watching, he'll come back."
Completely unconcerned, if she were honest with herself, Mandy nodded again. "Right." A glance at the clock on the wall, and a realization that she actually desired the company of her dorm-mates, and the laughter that usually accompanied time spent with Morag. "Well, I've got to go. Much to do before tomorrow, and I neglected to bring my Astronomy stuff with me. See you... Demelza!" She remembered the name, finally, grinning slightly. And then, schoolbag in hand, she breezed from the library.
