Who: John Quinn When: oh, at some point Where: Las Vegas downtown What: Quinn takes a break from brooding to go shopping. It's important shopping? Rating: PG Status: complete
Things were still a little awkward between him and Rashel. It was probably to be expected when you stab someone you love, but it was still very frustrating. Add onto that the fact that everyone in Daybreak was on edge because it was almost time for the final battle. So needless to say, Quinn was about ready to snap someone's neck.
He wanted it to be over. And yet, he didn't at the same time, because Quinn wasn't an optimist, and he guessed a lot of people were going to die very soon. Maybe even he and Rashel. So wanting to hurry the end was probably not in his best interests.
But there was at least one productive thing he could do other than run through strategies and scenarios again. It was December, and that meant Rashel's birthday, and whatever else was happening, Quinn needed to get something for her.
He just wasn't sure what yet.
He felt like he had walked across most of the city, although he obviously knew to avoid the most girly things. Rashel would probably not appreciate flowers and a candlelit dinner at this moment in time, no matter how many shopowners tried to convince him what a seventeen (almost eighteen...almost as old as him, in one way of looking at it) year old girl wanted.
Yeah, they didn't know his girl.
More than once, however, he had found himself stopped outside of a jewelry store. He wasn't looking at the bracelets or the necklaces, however. He was looking at the rings. Specifically, engagement rings. There had never been a right time in their relationship for that. It wasn't a question of wanting to spend the rest of his life with her. It was just a question of when to ask. Neither of them were the most romantic people, but even he had some standards.
But if he didn't get to it now, he might not get to it at all.
