thread: quinn and rashel
Who: John Quinn and Rashel Jordan When: sometime after the stabbing and the talking to Lupe about the Whitcombe betrayal, while everyone's getting ready for the rescue mission Where: Quinn's room What: they've entered bizarro world. Rashel doesn't want Quinn to go on the rescue mission. I have no idea what will happen.
Quinn wasn't avoiding Rashel. Not technically. He still talked to her, but he was trying to focus on work. To the point of being slightly obsessed. It was his way of coping with almost dying.
He'd gone over the main location with Lupe, worked out a bit of strategy, and now he was going over the maps. Again. He assumed he and Rashel would go. That was what they did, after all. They were fighters. They consistently risked their lives for Daybreak, and it was terrifying.
He hadn't realized quite how dangerous it was until Rashel had staked him. He always knew their job wasn't easy, but they were good individually and practically unstoppable together. But with the Old Powers and Dragons, he had to face the fact that there were things out there they couldn't control. Things they possibly couldn't beat. Things that led to her staking him.
Things that might mean he could lose her, or she him, and that was frightening. Quinn didn't like emotions too much, he wasn't particularly emotional, and fear was something he really wasn't used to. He didn't like it.
So he brushed off any concern about his health and threw himself into his work. Being prepared meant staying alive.
