WHO: Daphne Childs WHEN: Day after Date w/ Thane WHERE: Thierry's Place SUMMARY: Daphne wakes up from the night of hell. RATING: PG-13 STATUS: complete
The room was dim, and she was thankful that the curtains had been drawn. She felt like she'd slept forever, warm body sunken into the soft mattress beneath her. It was disorienting until she remembered where it was that she had slept. The peace only lasted for a moment as the events of the night prior had rushed back towards her and she sat up abruptly only to fall back.
Clutching her head, she cursed beneath her breath. She had to get something for that. She was sure downing the painkillers after three glasses of wine was not a good course of action. Hindsight was always 20/20 wasn't it?
Speaking of hindsight, she was starting to remember what she'd shared with Quinn a little more vividly. If she wasn't comfortable last night with what she was feeling. She was going to have to avoid him from now on. That shouldn't be so hard. Vegas was a big place and Rashel wasn't there to pull them into a room together anytime soon. Yeah, there was that, and this ferocious headache. She didn't want to drink ever again. Ever. Again. It was a bad thing, but what was she going to do about Thane?
She'd met him twice. He'd been nice...on the outside, that-- They told her never to see him again, and she had to listen to them. Technically, she didn't have to, but after what had happened the night before, she was definitely more inclined to it. If things had been different, she would have just stayed with Quinn as much as possible. That was just not going to happen, not anytime soon. Maybe she should have just gone to ask him to make her forget what she'd seen. He could do that, but she didn't want anyone messing with her head again, not after the last time.
Daphne would just have to grin and bear it. She'd eventually just die anyway. He'd outlive her and do continue to do his thing and eventually forget she existed. This was a much more comforting thought than it should have been.
She pulled the sheets up around herself and nestled in a bit before lifting it to check if she was still dressed, which she was. That was comforting. Nilsson had practically carried her up into the room and tucked her in. He'd been very gentle about it and that thought made her smile. The only problem was he was a vampire. Pretty? Yes, but one of them. Even if he was a good guy, it caused her to frown. It'd taken her a while to warm up to anyone who wasn't Quinn, and that was mostly because she knew he was safe due to Rashel.
Well, she owed him a thanks for all his trouble...and he was very adamant about her not going anywhere alone. The wheels in her head were turning as she stared up at the ceiling trying to concentrate on anything to make the pain go away.
