The worry about breaking things had Maes grinning. He rested a gentle hand again on Twelve's shoulder, reassuring him in the only way that he knew how to do right now. "Don't you worry about breaking things. You see, we've got a few alchemists here and they're weird powers will definitely come in handy around here. Roy owes me more than a few favors so you just be yourself and if anything breaks, I'll just get him to fix it right up. Between him and those brothers, we'll be just fine with fixing things up." He had yet to have a conversation with Roy about how their alchemy had changed since being here, but that really wasn't his area of expertise.
"You've met Al?" he questioned in surprise. "He is someone special, isn't he? I'm sure Al would love to spend some time with us. He's been a bit busy dating our queen and all, but Al will always be Al." Maes lowered his hand again to his side, taking note of Twelve's use of the word 'see' instead of 'hear'. Interesting. Maybe it was just a regional thing or something about where he came from. He didn't know what it was, but he wasn't about to start pushing for details. In his experience, Maes knew that people opened up better when they weren't expecting it.
He did tilt his head when the kid asked him to use that nickname again. Maes smiled brightly back and nodded in agreement. "Yeah. I can call you Touji around anyone else. Your secret is safe with me. I am curious, though, Touji," Maes started, using his nickname on purpose. "Is there some kind of meaning behind the name Touji that you prefer it sometimes? I mean, is it a family name or something different?"
