Re: The Crew tries to keep Dan in check.
He was cool. He was fine. Then he focused back in on Chace leaning over Emma's shoulder to show her things of the car. People were starting to drift back inside except for those that wanted to see Emma drive the car for the first time. Dan could see Chace leaning casually into her, laughing with her, meeting her eyes. Emma's excitment poured out of her and Chace was eating it up. From the side he heard Robert's laughter and even if he had no idea what it was about - even if he hadn't heard anything from him at all except to notice a smirk, Dan felt as if that laugh had traveled straight to the cage he was holding his anger in and unlocked it. All Dan had to do now was walk through it.
For a moment be forgot his promise to Emma, he forgot Amy's presence, he forgot the expectations from the 'adults' present and everything else, and with fists clenched he took first one step and then another. It barely registered that Taylor was moving too. All he could see was Chace's smug face. It was on his third step that he noticed Emma again and her smile stilled him. She'd never forgive him...
He only wished that thought were enough to get him to turn around, but all it did was freeze him in indecision. Dan's body practically vibrated with tension and he breathed in very slowly. He could hear Devon's voice talking to him as if it was from far away and he tried focusing on it to regain control of himself.
