Who: Emma and Open Where: The Gardens When: Midday What: Killing time, mulling over a mission to accept. Rating: PG Open?: Yes
The midday sun beat down on the sundial in the middle of the courtyard. The shadow of the needle stood in a perfect straight line indicating that it was noon exactly. There were a handful of clouds in the sky. They were the big cumulus clouds, big and puffy. Emma knew they actually climbed thousands of feet into the air, but they looked so small from her vantage point as she looked up. She was seated on a stone bench surrounded by rose bushes. She was killing some time in the garden while she studied a case the Society had acquired from their information sources. If she chose to accept it, it would be the first time she'd been out in the field in years. She held a clip board in her hands with all the case information printed on it. Israel was a long way away from Manchester, but at least it was a land she was familiar with. She'd been to the middle east once before on a dig in Iran. But that was back before the Society, before she knew about the strange and mysterious things that resided in the ancient places in the world.
She took a moment to look at the roses that still bloomed even in the gathering Autumn. They were various colors and genus arranged in a circle with a path cut in them as to reach the sundial and the bench. She loved the sight of roses, the color, the smell, it was very soothing for her. Then she returned her attention to the case file. She read for a few more moments before the sound of approaching footsteps caught her attention. She looked up to see someone walking towards her.
