A minute after, he overheard the sound of a very gentle knock at the door. Had he made a sound when he had startled earlier? He didn't think so. He had initially assumed it might be one of the people who owned the home, but he relaxed a little when he heard Katerina's familiar voice. He caught sight of her face as well then, tentatively peeking inside, and a small smile found it's way to his features, breaking through whatever else was there. He nodded in response to her question, and got up to walk over the door. She had already started to open it, but he opened it the rest of the way for her then. He meant it as a way to show that he really was awake, in case she had second thoughts about when she'd caught him. "Come inside," Ivan invited her, before glancing behind her, to see if she had come alone. That looked to be the case, with just a dark, empty hallway behind her. Once she had walked into the room, he shut the door softly behind her.
"Is everything all right?" he asked her in place of something like can't sleep? which seemed either implied, or that he didn't want to present the potential of her turning the question around. His eyes had returned to her soon after he'd shut the door, looking at the back of her head, at the spot where her hair didn't cover the skin of her neck, so that if she did turn to face him, she would find his eyes were already there to make contact with. He thought it must of been fairly late by this point, with no clock in this room, and although it would probably be a few more days before they all adjusted to the time difference, there was plenty of room for her to answer negative to that question, in this situation they were in.
