Large parts of the site are in our new home. We are working on trying to configure autoscaling to help prevent the outages we've seen. That said we are going to be hitting some growing pains as we work out how to uses these new technologies with the site.

Please bear with us with occasional outages as we work this out.

As you've probably guessed from my previous post. InsaneJournal is moving. And with that move comes a moving sale!!

We are going to be paying double server costs for the duration of the move which is going to add up. So we are asking you to help by purchasing Permanently Insane accounts for just $35. Our new home in the cloud will be much more stable and will enable us to grow the site and constantly move onto the latest hardware as changes to technologies emerge.

In addition we are building automation so that if we need to move again in the future it will be very painless.

We are making some major changes to the infrastructure of the site. In the long run the site will be more stable, however during this time you will experience lag and some downtime. The site should run better than ever once we are done and have worked out the kinks.

Sorry for the outage the past few hours. It seems I need to revamp my alarms as they didn't go off to wake me up while the site was down. Everything is up and running now and the site is performing as expected.

Having listened to feedback, we have locked down our site stats page to only authorized admins (for now that list includes one person). Thanks for your feedback and letting us know how we can make this a safer place for you.

Sorry I hadn't had a chance to make a post here until now. As am sure most of you know, we had a pretty serious outage this past weekend. The datacetner we are hosting in had another power event and led to our servers being down for 24 hours.

We have now gotten all services back up and running and are catching up on delivery notifications now. So you'll see your email get flooded with a backlog shortly.

We are going to be making some changes sooner rather than later on how we are hosting our site. The hardware we are on is getting older and we need to make decisions on replacement vs cloud hosting. We have also lost complete faith in our current hosting environment.

We'll keep you up to date on the decisions that are made.

Due to the enormous success of our holiday sale, we are extending it for another week for all items except Permanently Insane accounts which will be pulled from the store at the end of the day today (about 4pm EST).

We are aware a lot of users have been seeing excessive 503 and 504 errors. Looks like one of our servers was acting up and we've corrected the issue. It should make the site a bit more stable.

The current Start of Summer sale will be ending on Monday June 20th. Hurry up and save while you can. This will be your last chance until late this year to get your Permanently Insane accounts!
