Just a reminder. Today is the last day if the InsaneJournal holiday sale.

Also after the sale is over we are going to stop selling Permanently Insane accounts awhile.

    Any progress on fixing the "Failed to access class (LJ::XMLRPC): Can't locate LJ/XMLRPC.pm in @INC..." error with client apps?

        There does seem to be some issue with unicode support in the client protocol (version 1), though—cross-posting both to here and to LJ with extended characters yields strange results here (the extended characters turn to other basic characters) and normal results on LJ. (Specifically, I've seen this with the em-dash — and with the ellipsis … characters.)

              Oh, on a completely unrelated note, what happens to an account's email forwarding address (e.g., mathteacher@insanejournal.com) when an account is renamed, specifically with the redirect option? Does it continue to work?

    Will you let us know when you will sell more Permanent Insane accounts?

    I wanted to buy one for this account but just read you stopped selling so I was curious.

    i know this might not be the right place to suggest it but you guys should consider selling packs of renames with a slight sale price on them - like perhaps 5 for $20/10 for $40 or something along those lines? maybe as just a sale!

    Doubt I'll get a response, but do you have database backups of journals that have been purged? I'm really quite annoyed because I had a journal with all my old GJ entries in, memories of when my Grandad passed away. It had a lot of entries but I didn't log in very regularly since it was a backup journal. And now it's been deleted and purged and I never got an email about it (not in spam or inbox). All that gone because I didn't log in every 5 minutes to justify keeping my memories.

    I just hope I backed them up somewhere more reliable.

      We do not have historical database backups of the site. We do keep backups for disaster recovery purposes but do not store them long term.

      That said we do not regularly purge accounts and we do send email notifications when we do. However, there was an error with a spam cleanup about a year ago that caused a number of legitimate journals to be purged with no warning. We are deeply sorry if this is what happened to this journal, and unfortunately there was no way back from this.

    Sorry to hear you won't be offering Permanent Accounts anymore. I'm sorry I didn't get one when they were available.
