We are officially beginning our next username purge immediately. We are going to be setting any account that has been inactive since January 1st, 2010 to a deleted status. The accounts will have a 2 week period before their accounts are purged via the normal nightly purge process. We will not be posting a time when this purge will occur, nor will we be posting a list of purged accounts. If you receive an email stating your account was deleted, you have 2 weeks to log in and undelete the account. Please be aware that even though you don't see any posts or comments on an account, activity can be as simple as logging into the site or looking at your friends' page.
As asylums do not have an associated email address and usage is not as easily tracked, we are not going to include them in this purge. As always if you find an asylum that is inactive and you would like to take over maintainership, open a support request as there is a process to handle this.
These will be handled on a case by case and first come first serve basis.

The last time you did a purge, we received email notification and had time to merely log in to make our accounts active. This time, you went ahead and did the deletion deed, causing us extra steps. And, yes, when you have several accounts, the extra steps are time-consuming. Some of your little supporters have said "it only takes 15 minutes". Well, it only takes one minute to log in, so which way to purge would have been better, and kinder, to your users?
I moved a whole community of people here; not RPGers, but people from LJ who wanted to participate in our fan community in a "safe" environment. Now, I don't feel safe on IJ. The risk of deletion is exactly why we moved here, and now we are all to understand that you will decide to delete accounts whenever you feel like it, with no warning, only notices that it happened.
This news post and the one after it are littered with people pointing out that their accounts should not have been deleted, so you can't be trusted not to delete accounts in error. What if someone is overseas for a semester or work or a sick relative or whatever, and you mistakenly deleted her or his account? That person will come home to a permanently deleted account. Nice, Squeaky.
You've lost my confidence with this deletion move, especially as you've had no apologies or comment about doing this differently in the future. I don't know if my fan community is going to survive another move, but I am going to encourage people to use the other mirrors of the community and only use the IJ community for cross-posting; it had been our "home" community. And it may be petty, but when I vaguely heard about the purge without details, I was going to let several potential RPG account names go. Not now.

Timeframe to respond to requests
I gather you guys are very busy right now. Is there an approximate time frame it is taking for you to respond to requests to take over inactive communities/assylums?
