All of the IJ holiday sales have ended and prices are back to normal. We will be putting Permanently Insane accounts on sale for their regular price before Christmas.
While I definitely agree that future sales should take payday into account, the early notice of the Christmas sale is a good opportunity to put some money away in advance. Just my advice to those of you who rely on the timing.
I have a short question about the sale. I payed for Insane Userpics yesterday at 1:30pm, but they're not at my account so far. I just like to know if you recieved the payment and how long it takes to get the Userpics.
Also, I imagine you would have gotten more sales if you'd left the sale open longer. Leaving it for the whole day wouldn't have killed you. Instead you set it to Eastern - really inconsiderate as far as anyone in any other timezone in the US goes and a short window while most people were at work.
I agree that the time wasn't opportune, but at $30, I can see why he'd want to sell a limited number of accounts. They don't bring in recurring revenue. Maybe in the future, a shorter window (an hour or two hours) in the evening would be better.
It might've been cool to have done a two hour window early in the day and a two hour window later? That way it accommodates all users interested.
I'm going to be looking into it at Christmas - it's not really so much the sale price I'm after as availability of perm accounts at all, although sale price is really nice. Not like LJ where a perm account is $150. That's outrageous.
That's probably a good balance. I get why he doesn't want everybody to buy one, but I'll admit I was only around during the sale because of coincidence. Having two shorter windows of time several hours a part might be a good compromise.
Have you tried switching to another e-mail provider, just to see if the notifications come in better? Squeaky has said that some of the e-mail providers are blocking InsaneJournal. A lot of people had this problem with gmail a few weeks ago, but it's since improved.
I would recommend switching an account to gmail, just as an experiment to see if your notifications come in. It would determine whether the provider is the problem.
Why would it do that all of a sudden? Certain journals work 100% while others don't work at all. And then on top of it I'll get about 50% of them sent to me retroactively. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
I'm having some comment issues with live.com mail as well. Comments on journals are coming through sporadically but ones in communities are coming even more sporadically.
I'm not getting all of my notifs for any of my accounts, all registered to one aol account. The ones I do get I get ten or twenty minutes (sometimes even a day) late, and that's still not all of them.
By the way, I have a question, it's about the tags and I wondered if it would be possible to increase the character limit on them (or just remove the limit altogether)? Because I have several things I want to use tags for that are too long for the current character limit.
squeaky, this is irrelevant to your post but please either PM me and/or sign on. i've been provided with an aim screen name for you and i'm HOPING it's really yours. i'm having trouble with my accounts being hacked and i really need to have some sort of conversation with you. i'm commenting a post so old so the person who has hacked my accounts won't see this and attempt to rename them. i'm actually hoping you can get back to me a.s.a.p so we can get my passwords back BEFORE she renames my usernames. i'm begging you, please PM me :(
