The InsaneJournal server move has been completed. We are fully installed into our new home. Things should work better here, especially during peak hours in the evening (US). This also means that we are ending the sale we started a little over a week ago. Thanks to all of you who contributed and made this move possible.

I know the last part of the move yesterday was painful for a lot of you. I would have preferred to do it during the daytime during the week, but circumstances didn't allow for that. But we are done with 0% data loss, which is exceptional.

We are still working out some kinks with notifications. Seems that the big email providers don't like it when we move IP addresses. Gmail seems to be working, but it appears that AOL and Yahoo are both blocking our email. We hope to have these issues addressed in the next day or two.

  • I'm glad the move went smoothly. Does this mean that email notifications should start working again? I haven't gotten any at all in MONTHS, even after resetting the email address and even changing it, and making sure I had the option chosen.
    • That sounds like a completely different problem, since they were working for almost everyone until a few days ago. What e-mail do you use?
      • I started off using Hotmail. Since then, I have tried switching to both Yahoo and Gmail, all to no avail.

  • Thanks for keeping us so updated on the move and woohoo on zero data loss! I'm on Yahoo, and I'm getting maybe half of my notifs at the mo. I have faith in it getting sorted though!
    • Check your SPAM folder. Some of them may be going there. Let me know.

    I have a question, since the move I have not been able to do any customization to my journal, I had a custom layout and when I went to make some changes I lost everything. Now when ever I put the coding back in and hit save changes I end up with a blank page that has timed out. then when I go back to my journal there are no changes. Is this a glitch from the move or should I put a support ticket in.

    Er, since you moved servers my journal has re-set to the defaut, and I've lost all my links and sidebar stuff - do I need to re-set this up?
  • I know this is an older post, but the problem I'm running into is current. Is there an issue with notifications currently? I'm getting them several hours after the items post. I've spoken to a few other people who are experiencing the same problem. It started sometime yesterday (I was fine Saturday night).
