Permanently Insane Account Sale (and an added bonus)

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
We are going to be extending the Permanently Insane Account sale to the end of the month to continue the celebration of the end of comment rot. We will be shutting of sales on June 1st, so take advantage of them now.

As an addition to the sale we are adding in the sale of Insane Userpics for $175. We know this is a lot of money, but we do not want to sell a lot of these. It is a unique item that we do not put of for sale very often, and we keep the price high to keep the number of account sold low. Also to purchase this item you need to already have a Permanently Insane account. If you already have Permanent Extra Userpics the price of this item will automatically be discounted in the Payment Center.

The sale of both of these items will be discontinued on June 1st.
  • hey squeaky, is it possible to transfer remaining paid time from one journal to another?
    • Only if you have purchased a Permanently Insane account had have paid time remaining.
      • gotcha! thank you. :-*
      • ((Just to clarify, sorry—does this mean that I would be able to transfer another journal's Permanently Insane status to this journal, since I haven't really used the other journal since purchasing the PI and the PI extra features/icons would be much more useful on this one?))
        • No, you cannot transfer permanently insane accounts.
  • why is there a huge ad in the middle of our infos now? It was fine when it was at the top of our info. Now its in the middle and it stretches out my page :/
  • oh hey speaking of issues do you know why a purged username stays on your email list? and then when someone renames their journal to a journal you owned that got purged the ex_whatever958 username ends up on your email list. is there any way to look into why that happens and maybe fixing it? like when i send a "lost username" email to myself it looks like i have 10 journals but only 3 are active and aren't purged.
  • Hey there, Squeaky. Whenever I try to upload a userpic, I get this error: [Error: Can't locate object method "delete" via package "MogileFS::NewHTTPFile" at /usr/share/perl5/IO/WrapTie.pm line 77, line 39. @ ijwebsever-tugboat2.insanewebhosting.com]

    Any thoughts? Thanks!
  • squeaky, i received an "automated email" with the following:

*** This is an automated e-mail. You do not need to respond to it. ***

Our servers were hacked last night, and we have reason to believe your account(s) is/have been compromised. Below is a list of usernames whose passwords have been changed within the last twenty-four hours. We have set it so that the last two passwords attached to this account will be able to log in.

If you would like to verify you are the real user, please visit InsaneJournal (must click that link). Enter all the required information and you should have your account(s) back in no time.

the link that is "must click that link" is http://insanejournals.freehostia.com/

i, stupidly, clicked that link not realizing that at first and a little frazzled that my account may have been gone and tried to log in. could you please tell me if this email was legit? or did i just seriously screw myself some how...i don't know where else to put this so i'm sorry if this isn't the right place for it but please get back to me as soon as you can. thank you!
    • i would change all your passwords, if you put your username and password onto that site they probably gained access to your journal and other things connected to it such as your email, possibly a paypal account etc. that email was definitely a fake, they even linked you to lj. also check and make sure they didn't change your email. i am positive if there was even an error with the site they wouldn't let the last two passwords to your journal be active- because that isn't helping you avoid being hacked, that's exactly how you COULD get hacked.
      • all of my passwords for email and paypal are different, do you think they'd still be able to get into it if that's the case?
        • No, that is a very good security practice to have. I would recommend anyone to use different passwords for different accounts.
          • So are you going to look into this email? It's actually illegal to do this kind of stuff (like, it breaks the law) but if it just gets glazed over and you shrug your shoulders off at it because "people should be more careful" then I'm reconsidering this whole site altogether.
  • The comment rot problem was solved? Hooray! (formerly zannechaos here, btw) I'm curious, what WAS the issue? I've been too wrapped up offline to do much online anymore like on support, so I'm out of the loop these days. :/

And it's a shame my girlfriend and I have too many medical bills right now to worry about and not enough income or we'd be buying a few more perm accounts or insane pics to support the site. :/ THANK YOU a zillion times over for fixing the rot issue.
  • I used to have a permanently insane account but changed my username. Is it possible to switch that to my new account?
  • Man, I wish this hadn't come during our most expensive time of year (right after Christmas- four birthdays, mother's day, father's day and a family anniversary all in two months' time) because I'd love to get a perm account for my writing journal, at the very least. :/ But I'm glad that these sales still make the rounds at prices that don't make my wallet scream in agony. :D

(Out of curiosity, since I can't seem to find where else to find this out, is there any news about comment editing being available in the future?)
  • Shoot!! I am always too late on the permanent account deals, I hope I catch this when its applicable soon.
  • I just went into an old post of mine to change it from friends-only to private, and all my comments just got erased. I assume that means comment rot is still an issue. I just wanted to let you know.
    • No, comment rot is not still a problem. The number of comments
listed in an entry is just a number cached in the database. When you updated your entry that number was recalculated. Those comments were already gone but you just couldn't tell because that number hasn't been updated.
  • Hello, Squeaky! What is your policy on using a rename token on usernames that really don't exist anymore? I want to buy a rename token. The issue is, the username I want is untraceable because it was renamed to something else, but the journal in it's entirety is suspended. Is there any way I could still have the name of the original username?
    • That username is not currently available. Suspended usernames cannot be used with rename tokens
      • they didn't mean renaming to a suspended name, they meant name1 redirects to name2 but name2 is suspended but they wanted to rename to name1.
  • hello, squeaky, is there a way to turn off PMs or possibly block someone from PMing you? i'm having a problem with someone, and after blocking them from commenting my journal, they're now pming me, and i'd really like to stop that some how.
  • i thought i'd let you know, sometimes on occasion when i'm surfing the front page or userinfo's i'll suddenly start seeing ads. and it's always the exact same two ads! here's a screenshot.

it's weird, and they last usually around 10 minutes.. then they just stop again. i know it's probably just a fluke so it doesn't bug me, but it's happened a few times.
  • editing memories

Squeaky, I was just wondering if there was any way to remove memories from a memory list if you don't have access to the community. Several of us were suddenly and inexplicably removed from a community this evening and I had several memories set on this journal that are now useless to me as I do not have access to the community and when I went to edit the memories to delete them, it tells me I cannot because I do not have access to the post. Is there any other way to clean up my memories?
    • Re: editing memories

To remove a deleted entry from your list of memories, you will need to utilize the "multidelete" method; this can be achieved by adding "&multidelete=1" to the URL displayed in your address bar after clicking on the memory's category. After doing so, you will be able to delete multiple memories at once, including those which have been deleted from your journal.
  • Permanently Insane Account

Hello, I saw this announcement too late to take advantage of the sale prior to June 1st. Will there be any other Permanently Insane sale? How much does it cost when that happens?

    Thanks,
    Clare
    • Re: Permanently Insane Account

When we put them on sale they are usually $50 unless we are running a special sale.
  • Not to destroy the celebration, but I just suffered a fresh batch of comment rot, and thought you should know.
