i don't work on, with, or for the site or anything, but i'd assume there's no set time on the day of the two week mark and it happens when the maintainers get the time to set aside for doing it. i know how you feel, though. there are a couple of usernames i'd love to have myself. :) good luck!
There seems to be a problem with posting anonymous comments going on. I keep getting this error: [Error: No image captchas available at /home/lj/cgi-bin/LJ/Captcha.pm line 40. @ ijwebsever-brain2.insanewebhosting.com]
i'm a little confused about the purges, like are journals that are deleted going to be purged after/around the 2 week mark or is it going to be another big purge in a few months or something?
Any journal that is deleted will be purged in two weeks. That's standard. Separate from that, in a special purge, journals that haven't been active since Jan 1 2008 will be purged two weeks from the date that Squeaky set them to deleted status.
I was wondering if you were going to answer the question of inactive asylums which have a purged/set to be purged maintainer? There is a name I want to use as a community but someone already beat me to it.
Fair enough, but I see that their username is set to deleted meaning there's no way to contact them about the community and it will just be left empty.
this entry had 300+ comments but i just suffered from comment rot like many others in this post. i thought it was fixed but apparently not? i guess the purge must be a priority since it brings in revenue for the website through the purchase of rename tokens, but as someone who has paid money to have a premium account, it's a little unsettling that this issue is STILL being neglected and doesn't appear to be anywhere near resolved.
I've suffered from comment rot before the server move on this RP journal, but I've just lost more comments recently. As far as I've seen? Going back to older entries to read old comments - clicked on the read comment link, which actively said oh, ballpark 80+ comments to each of the following listed - and once the page loaded? Poof. Comments completely gone.
I have also noticed that the affected entries make the icon used previously in the post, change to the default one. Hopefully this information will help determine what sort of bug is doing this. As one moment the comments were actively listed, then clicked on, and magically disappeared.
Nice! I've seen a name there I'm very tempted to grab for RP.
Sorry to be a nuisance here, but blank preview pages, any idea when those are going to be fixed? I haven't been able to preview any new entries with my personal journal for well over 6 months. I have submitted a support request twice but it got closed out twice and the problem I have is now outstanding ... not to mention very frustrating. :(
I had that problem too. I think it's just hotmail and it has nothing to do with insanejournal. That's why I completely changed to gmail for my IJ stuff.
It probably is, but I thought someone might know for sure. I use gmail but I forward all of my stuff to my hotmail account and that's not even working, but only with comments. validation e-mail are going through, just not comments.

Just want to know what time you purge so I can get the name I want, thanks.

178 comments. Now there's none at all. Hopefully you can track down what's doing it.
