Permanently Insane Accounts

I have alluded to this in the past, but [info]insanity and I have made a decision on the future sale of Permanently Insane accounts. We are going to stop selling them as an everyday item as of March 1st, 2008. We are looking at our long term cash flow and we realize that to keep the site going the way it is, we need to get a recurring revenue stream going and Permanently Insane accounts aren't going to do that.

No don't worry, if you already have one, we are going to leave it as is for the entire life of the site. And we will occasionally put them back up for sale, so they aren't gone forever. But this gives you 6 weeks to purchase them before they are pulled from the InsaneJournal store.

And to avoid any rumors, no we are not currently going to raise prices on Self-Committed accounts.

    Thanks so much for the notice! The only reason I haven't previously bought one is my lack of money, but I can afford one by then. :3

    Whenever I try to create one (this just started happening for me today, by the way) I enter the security code and double check it to make sure I've entered it properly, I always get a message saying that it's an invalid answer. My internet explorer also often tells me that there's an error on the website.

    Thanks for the heads-up! I have a few accounts I want to get those for, and this gives me plenty of time to arrange it. I will definitely keep buying stuff after then, too. :)

    Just bought one for myself as an early birthday present (which would actually be 2 days before the sale ends). I kept missing sales and was hoping for another one like the one at Thanksgiving. Oh well. You've been so good to us since the LJ mess that it's worth more than the extra $10. :)

    This is actually why I decided to go with the regular paid account instead of a Permanently Insane one: if I stay here more than two years, I'll actually be giving more money than with a permanent.

    GJ is back up again, however briefly. IJ is very slow tonight -- I assume it's getting hammered by new users putting up their archives?

    Hey Squeaky, maybe it's just me, but the site seems to be dragging an awful lot lately.

    Any other website opens right up for me, but IJ takes a long time to open for some reason.}:(

    I'm glad my account is permanent, and I'll look into "permanizing" the asylum I mod as well.

    You should maybe put some thought into a special add-on that only permanent account holders could buy. All that comes to mind is icons, but maybe there's something else that would entice the permanent folks to pony up a little cash on a yearly basis as a luxury add-on to their account. Something extra to add to their info page or something?
