Sorry About that

Your ever so wise an all knowing sysadmin (insert sarcasm) goofed up. I forgot about the database logs getting really really big and filling up the log filesystem, and didn't move them somewhere bigger. So basically the database for the site locked up this evening and caused a couple of the tables to crash. I had to do some database repair work, but I got everything back up and running.

Yes this is the same thing that happened last time we moved servers (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/announcements/36438.html) , in the haste of it all I forgot about this, I'm sorry about it.

But take solace in knowing that it is fixed and the site shouldn't be going back down again any time soon.
  • the lovely [info]highwindpav has answered my support request and it was indeed the problem:

"It's possible this is occurring because of the autofill feature in Firefox. If you have had Firefox remember the password for InsaneJournal, it sometimes causes an error where, when going to update your journal, it will log you out and then autofull your username and password in the journal update screen. When this happens, common errors include not being able to chose a user icon or use a custom filter.

If this is the issue, you may wish to either clear the InsaneJournal's saved password from Firefox by using these steps: Tools -> Options -> Security -> Show passwords, then deleting the password for InsaneJournal. If you do this, you will have to enter your username and password manually to log in every time you visit IJ, and to choose "Not for this site" when Firefox prompts if you would like the password memorized.

Alternatively, you may wish to create a 'dummy' password for Firefox to remember--if you do this, it will not trigger Firefox's autofill. To do this, log out of InsaneJournal, then enter a fake username with a fake password. Allow Firefox to remember this password. This will prevent Firefox from autofilling the field."

I hope this might help you.
