The site was down for a few minutes this evening. I noticed some slowness due to the growth, so I brought a second webserver online. I also took that opportunity to perform some database maintenance. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this should help the site run faster and more reliably than ever.

Also, in the future, if you ever want an update to the site if it's not working, we post all known outages over at our twitter page. http://www.twitter.com/insanejournal

    Thanks for the heads up! I wasn't able to access the site, hopped over to Twitter, and sure enough you'd made an announcement. You rock.

    I'm not really impatient, but I thought I'd let you know that I get "proxy errors" when I refresh or try to post a comment. Here are a few examples:

    Proxy Error
    The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.

    The proxy server could not handle the request GET /announcements/38887.html.

    Reason: Error reading from remote server

    Apache/1.3.33 Server at insanejournal.com Port 80

    When the site came back I noticed a few layout problems (colors stripped) but it honestly doesn't even matter. The fact you tell us everything that's going, reply to comments (even ones that aren't so nice), and in general seem to care about your users make everything ok. It's such a nice change, really.

      I think the fact that it's really jarring and unexpected to see negative comments says something about just how much everyone here loves the site, too. :P

      Yeah I was worried about that. The data in the tables that hold that kind of stuff was totally hosed up (the primary symptom of the incompatible libraries that we had between the two servers).

    hi squeaky, thank you for all your help and being so welcoming to us "GJ Refugees" :)

    there is a small glitch happening, atleast with me though. Whenever I am on my friends page and a click an entry to comment I'm fine but then if I try to navigate to another page using the main IJ links. (IE- if I go to view my info through the My Journal link) the site will come up with "http://friendsjournal.insanejournal.com" before it which obv, is not a link lol. I hope that makes some sense. I fix the links manually though.

    Also, I was on my friends page went to update my journal, fixed the link manually but when I went down to hit "post" I noticed that I was set up to actually post in my friend's journal that I was viewing lol.
