I see that we have a bunch of new users and a lot of people checking us out. I do welcome all of you. I want to point out to you, that although this site is based in the LiveJournal engine, we are not affiliated or associated with LiveJournal in any way. We are an independently run site.

We understand why a lot of you are coming over here, and we do not believe in censorship beyond the letter of the law. We will not remove any content from the site unless we receive an official DMCA take down notice or are contacted by an offical legal agency notifying us of illegal activity.

That said, we welcome all of you and if you have any issues, please feel free to visit our support area.
  • Thanks!

Wow, this is /way/ more friendly than LJ or GJ. Thankyou! I'm not completely moving yet because everyone's on LJ, or if not on LJ then on GJ, but I'll definitely be backing everything up here and looking around the comms. Er. Asylums. >> I wasn't hit myself by the Strikethrough, but it definitely did show LJ's attitude towards us and that this was not a friendly one. Here looks much better!

    • Re: Thanks!

Thanks! I aoppreciate that you're here and are giving us a chance. I hope in the future we'll become your permanent home.
  • Hi! Yet another LJ refugee here, your response to the new arrivals has been very welcoming, so thank you for that. Will be setting up a permanent account very soon after getting the lay of the land here.
    • Great, I welcome you and any support you can give the site. Even if it's just talking to people and getting them to come over here.

Oh, and I love your userpic .. heh
  • Paid account at LJ is going the way of the Dodo so figured Id set up shop here. So far so good and hope to bring a slew of friends with me
  • And that statement is exactly why I migrated here instead of going over to GreatestJournal.

I had quite a few of my fandom communities affected by the LJ Strikethrough and 2 of the survivor communities that I frequented. I am deeply troubled and distubed by what happened over there and I am planing the great move-over as I type this.

Thank you for renewing some of my faith in the online journaling system. It is terrifying when you think that something you wrote as fiction or something you might have said to survivors might be the cause of years worth of journaling just vanishing off the face of the internet. Without warning.

My trust in LJ is deeply shattered and I am looking forward to building a solid relationship with your service.

    Thank you.
    • You're welcome. I'm glad you seem to have foudn a new home here.
  • Like many others have said, I have decided to try out InsaneJournal as an alternative to LJ. Far too many of my friends and favorite communities were affected by the recent nonsense over there.

Your statement is very reassuring and contributed greatly to my deciding to create a journal here. Here's to a long and happy association.
    • Well I am really glad you chose us to try out. I hope you like it here.
  • Thanks for the welcome! So far I love this place!
  • I just created a journal here, to archive fandom things and have a place to run to if things happen again on LJ. I got really scared when I heard what was happening on LJ because of the sheer Not Looking At Things involved. One of the main people in a few communities I'm involved in came over here, and while Greatest Journal looks shiny, there's enough stuff not working over there right now that I'd rather pick not-visibly-unreliable over shiny.

(Hmm, 2000 versus 100 icons. I remember partying when I went from 3 to 6. And I do animated icons, so the 100 kb limit is much appreciated. Less color map foolery, ooh.)

Seeing the individual responses here is icing on a very nice cake.

The censorship policy? The ice cream and pre-dessert buffet.
    • Thanks, I'm glad you like it. You'd be suprised how hard it was to increase the userpic size limit, bit I thought 40kb was just too small.
  • Thank you. I was wondering about the similarity to LJ, but I see that it was explained. For now I'll only be a free user, but if it seems like a good idea, I might move over from LJ and become a paid user.
    • Thanks for being here. I'm glad we were your choice :)
  • I've purchased two permanent accounts in the last week, and I will be moving my content from LJ to here. It will take a while; there is lots.

Six Apart finally posted a "clarification" and I'm totally confused by it.

Since they were unable to differentiate a rape survivor from a rapist, I don't want them evaluating anything.
  • Another LJ refugee here; thank you so much for the welcome. It may or may not surprise you to hear that there are vocal groups of people who deeply oppose freedom of expression and open discourse. You will come under tremendous personal pressure from these people. Holding your own against them will make you truly a hero of democracy, in this day and age.
  • I will be moving all twelve of my paid accounts here to IJ.

*ggg* No volume discount??? *grin* Just kidding. I'm happy to support your site, and so are my friends.

  • Just wanted to let you know, I came over after the Strikethrough debacle in June. Bought a perm account too as soon as I saw the price. I've been promoting this place to my friends, but many didn't see any point to coming over.

Well, after the latest round of nonsense from LJ I've been whipping out the link again and reiterating your stance on censorship. Glad to see that I've now got at least 15 of my friends over here. Considering my flist is over a hundred strong at LJ, I'm going to keep spreading the word!
  • You're awesome =)
  • Thanks for housing us! I just moved over from GJ, and I just had one question about viewing options - do you think you'd ever be willing to approve a site scheme like GJ or like Dystopia on LJ, where you've got a navigation bar of whatever color on the side and then a clean white background for the rest of the site? Just a curiosity, and I in no way want to imply I'm dissatisfied with the AWESOME work you're doing here. Thanks again, squeaky!
