I am considering doing something that we have not done before. There are a number of older asylums with very desirable names that are abandoned on the site.

In the past we have given these away on a first come/first serve basis. But I am considering instead of doing this to offer up these names in an auction, perhaps ebay or some other third party auction site to make it fair.

It seems like a fair way to get these names into the hands of someone who will do something positive with them and a way to generate revenue for the site.

But before I actually do this I want to get feedback from the users. What do you guys think about this? Would this put a bad taste in your mouth, or do you think this is a great idea? Please let me know, this is a community driven site and I want the community to have input on this.


UPDATE: Based on the feedback we have gotten. We have decided that if we do move forward with this plan, we will not include any asylums that have content posted. This will only apply to asylums that have not been used and have no maintainer attached to them.

That said we are also immediately revising our current re-assignment policy and will not reassign ANY asylums that have content posted.
