Just so everyone knows what's going on. InsaneJournal has been running very stable for a long long time. I attribute this to our low amount of traffic. However, since yesterday, we have had a dramatic increase in traffic. It appears a number of users from GreatestJournal have decided to check InsaneJournal out. We were not prepared for this and as a result the site went down. We noticed this at about 9:30PM and were able to restore service by 10:30PM.

After this, a decision was made to upgrade the amount of RAM in the server. The server went down at 11:08 PM to perform this upgrade and was back up at 11:24PM (all times EST). We do apologize to any users who were inconvenced by this and we are doing our best to stabilize things and do not forsee any further downtime. Though if this growth does continue, we will be forced to further upgrade the server, and to do this we need money. So if you want to help out, and you like the community the InsaneJournal provides, please purchase a Self-Commited[paid] or Permanently Insane (never expires) account.

        About how much money does it take to run this site on a monthly basis?

          I would prefer to not give exact amounts, over $100 a month, which isnt all that, except as of last night, that went up because we had to up the RAM. and if the traffic continues to climb, we will be adding another server to InsaneJournal, which will up the cost considerably.

          Mind you, i am not complaining. Am rather excited to see so many people find us.
