New Feature for Invite Codes

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
We are happy to announce a new feature we have added to our account codes page (http://www.insanejournal.com/invite). We now support showing you the kind of invite code you have purchased. This is useful if you have purchased Permanently Insane and/or Self-Committed account codes. You will now see them and be able to easily identify them in your invite code list.

We hope that this makes things easier for you and prevents using codes for the wrong things by mistake.
  • this is a really neat feature! thanks!!
  • Could we change the maximum file size for icons from 100kB to 200kB? A lot of us have needed this for a while now, and it would make creating gif icons worlds easier for the users that do this.

I know a lot of us would really appreciate the small file size boost. 100kB is such a low cap in 2020, it makes editing gifs for icons an extremely hard task, and even when you manage it they tend to suffer a lot quality-wise.
    • That would be actually amazing. I make a lot of gif icons and icon sets and working within the limits of the current file size restraints is extremely difficult.
    • I strongly agree. I can't use gif icons I find on tumblr or other webpages because I have to convert them down so much that I basically have to just remake it.
    • This would be so, so appreciated! I understand not wanting to put too much pressure on the database, but the small increase would make life about 1000x easier.
    • This would be amazing.
    • i think this would be a really rad thing!
    • Definitely agree that we could use a change like this!
    • Ugh, yes please! Tumblr gif icons are so much bigger that it's impossible to just transfer them over. :(
    • I think a lot of people would find this helpful!
    • Yes, please! It is such a struggle to get a quality gif icon with the 100kb cap.
    • Yes please!
    • This would be fantastic!
    • Yes, this would really be awesome to have!!!
    • Hard agree with this suggestion.
    • Yes, please! As an icon maker and someone who uses gif icons a lot, this would go a very long way to helping that.
    • Please! This would be awesome!
    • Agree with this, but only if it doesn't mean lowering the total amount of icons available for free accounts (or any account type, really). It's not worth having a few larger gif icons if in return there are less icons overall. Or if it would have any kind of impact on server performance. But if it's just a file size increase in general and causes no negative impact, that'd be cool.
    • Agreed! I know I, for one, would be more likely to shell out for extra userpics more often if I could add some higher quality gif options to my icons.
    • You know what, you could even increase to 300 or so if you supported the site in between sales. No, I am not squeaky, but a user who hates when stuff like this is asked for and there's usually a struggle going on to keep the site open that users really don't know about. There's a lot of icons on tumblr I'd like to use as well, but yeah.

Anyway, you probably do support it. Just sayin.
      • I've already asked you not to contact me, Mandy. Please stop harassing users on Squeaky's site updates.
  • Just a heads up that the browse button for icons isn't working when you click it when making a comment.
    • It's working for me on all my devices. Might wanna give it another try now and see if it was just an intermittent issue (and/or has been fixed)!
  • I'm still having a problem with the browse button working when I go to comment on Google Chrome. It works on Firefox, but Chrome is my preferred browser.
    • it works on chrome for me across a few computers/devices. maybe try clearing your chrome cache/cookies/etc, or do a reinstall of the browser?
      • I did the clearing of the cookies/cache, and it still doesn't work. :(
    • or is there an extension you recently downloaded around the time it stopped working? maybe something there is causing your browser to behave oddly.
      • I did. I downloaded the Sanity extension for IJ, actually. When it stopped working on that, I figured it was an extension problem, and I got rid of it. Now it doesn't work on Chrome at all for me, even though the extension is gone.
        • weird. I know can suck, especially if you have lots of extensions and stuff, but I would try doing a completely fresh install? remove chrome and google how to remove any lingering bits of it on your computer too and then do a clean install. if it's isolated to just one device/browser for you at least? seems like something went weird on that device than ij itself. run a malware scan too - malware bytes is pretty good. you may have picked something up that is just causing your browser/computer to glitch out.
          • Thank you!
          • I did everything you mentioned, and still no dice. I don't know what else to do.
            • do you have an anti virus program of some sorts running? maybe it's reading the browse pop up as an ad pop up?
              https://www.howtogeek.com/411439/how-to-allow-or-block-popups-in-chrome/
there's some stuff about pop up windows in chrome there that might be a place to look?
              • I do, I use the one that came with my internet. It's always run but it's never blocked that window before.
              • I tried the stuff in there, and nothing worked. :-/
                • weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeird. if you press alt+tab do you see it when it shows all your open things? maybe it's popping up underneath something or getting hidden somehow. I'm honestly not sure at this point, this is about all of my go to for things are acting weird lol. or make sure your display settings somehow haven't decided you have a second monitor if you don't have one.
                  • Nope, not showing up at all. It's so weird, because after I installed that extension, it worked, but after a day of using it, it stopped working. Now it doesn't even work even though the extension is gone.
                    • maybe pop tess a message then? she might have an idea of where to start looking for the root problem. or try <a href="https://www.guidingtech.com/find-remove-harmful-software-chrome-cleanup-tool/>the clean up tool</a> and that might clear up anything that's lingering from the extension that may be causing an issue.
                  • Thank you for all your help! I have it figured out. :)
