My name is Otako, and I like anime. (That should be pretty obvious, huh?) I prefer shoujo, but I am known to watch some (though very little) shounen. Some of the series I'm into from each are: Shoujo Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san Kaleido Star Fruits Basket Peach Girl Shounen Keroro Gunso (SGT Frog) One Piece Yu-Gi-Oh! GX There are more, of course, but I wouldn't want to bore you with the entire list. I also like things known as "slice of life" anime, which don't really seem to fall into either category. Series like this (that I highly recommend) are Honey & Clover and Genshiken. I also enjoy playing video games, drawing, cosplaying, and role-playing. I'm currently trying to finish up my game on Pokémon Pearl, getting together information to cosplay as Fallen Angel Flonne, trying to improve my artwork (viewable on DeviantArt), and participating in a Yu-Gi-Oh! There is an article about the Anime fandom that could use some help from people inside the fandom. :) While it is easy to get things like when communities were started and when canon was released, it is much harder to put that information into context, find out about fandom fighting, who the big name fans are and what people are doing at conventions and on the more remote parts of the Internet. Hello! [ January 09 '08 Wednesday, 11:12am ] ririka [ mood | cheerful ] Wow, this place is totally dead...! *listens to the crickets chirp* Let me try and liven it up. My name's Ririka, and I'm into shoujo anime. I'm also into a lot of shounen anime too, but I kinda am fickle about which ones. I wonder if anyone's heard of some of the ones that I like best, since they tend to be older shows? Anyone here like Nurse Angel Ririka SOS, or Hana no ko LunLun? I first got into anime through Sailor Moon back in 97, but Hana no ko LunLun used to air on American TV in the early 80's under the name Angel. (As a 6 year old I kept thinking the show was called 'Flower Angel'. ^^) ( Here's a pic. ) If you're familiar with those shows, can you reccomend anything similar? If you can't tell already, if it's heavy on the flowers theme, I'll love it. That's sort of what I'm searching for, though I do love things like Princess Tutu as well. hi! new member [ June 24 '05 Friday, 02:44am ] madkool [ mood | giddy ] [ music | baby look at us/DDR ] even tho the flow of entries here is pretty....obsolete, i decided to join and start talking...maybe other people will follow suit :D i can't reall say i'm an "anime freak," or anything like that, but i am obsessed with a lot of that type of stuff....you know, like rpg video games (final fantasy), and i watch some anime... but with the anime series that i just stumbled upon, i think i am officialy hooked on anime. they started playing "read or die: the tv" on G4, and i started watching it one day....wow! i love it! unforutnately, they stopped airing it, and the dvds are way too expensive... i'm not exaggerating. in order to get them all, it would cost me around $200....ya, pretty spendy anyways, i was wondering if anybody else watches/watched read or die....and if there are any suggestions as to what i should watch/read next? i haven't really broken into the whole manga scene either, so any suggestions for good reading? well, thanks! [ January 23 '05 Sunday, 11:45pm ] richie i don't usually make posts in communities but i feel like changing that. hi i'm amanda or kari, whichever is good! i've been into anime and manga for a while now. i'm more into manga though. i usually spend what little money i get on manga the day i get it. my friends all think i'm crazy for doing that, oh well what can i say, i'm obsessed. hah! my favorite animes at this time have got to be wolf's rain, love hina, cowboy bebop, and serial experiments lain. They both make me so ajfhga. sorry, that is like the only way i can describe it. my first anime ever seen was sailor moon. i think i was about 6 and it was on tv before school. i was so obsessed i even had the dolls and my mom made me like a costume. i use to be cute! i just saw the first dvd of gad guard and that is pretty cute and i also just saw the first chobits dvd and i was kind of disappointed. the mangas were so great and clamp's movie of x was an amazing i guess i had higher expectations. oh well. some other anime i watch are, digimon (this is my love oddly), pokemon, card captors, yu-gi-oh, big o, and usually whatever i can catch on adult swim. i would love if you guys could suggest some good ones. as for manga, my list could go on and on. my first finished manga series was chobits. i bought and finished the whole series in one week. my favorite mangas are wild act and peach girl: change of heart. if you wanted to know a good manga i would definitely suggest you read peach girl ooh of hana kimi, for you in full bloom, oh my gosh or snow drop. i love girly love mangas. they are like my weakness. some other mangas i read are ai love you, ai yori aoshi, angel sanctuary, confidential confessions, instant teen, paradise kiss, planet ladder, wallflower, and x. i started to read gunslinger girl but they only wrote the 1 volume and i haven't seen a 2nd one. to bad that was a really good plot, too. this is embarrassingly long, my apologizes. i guess you could hardly tell i never post in communities! edit +♥ | read 2 comment?
